Population control, Securing Buddhist heritage & foreign investments
Preservation of true Sri Lankan Buddhist
character is as paramount as securing much-needed-foreign-investments by
post-Covid-19 government. Actors in the
jungle of Sri Lankan politics seem to include mainly political parties,
regional blocks, religious and ethnic sects, environmentalists and individual
politics of each legislators in macro level. From national policy making to
road paving in a distant village is understood within these actors’ horizontal
and vertical engagements. However, identifying the main actors in Sri Lankan
politics are to benefit recognizing national threats, national policy making process
and securement of foreign investments in post-Covid-19. Largest minority
groups, Tamils, Muslims and Christians and their affiliations to investing nations needed to go through a nuanced assessments. Legislative
actions to limit whole population growth and to preserve the true Sri Lankan
Buddhist characters within it is paramount in
post-LTTE and post-Covid-19 era. The whole world is forced to rethink about its old production module by Covid-19.
No nation is prepared to give up her true
nature for the sake of minority interests. No nation should ever do that. Since,
WW II addressing the least disadvantaged individuals within a developing nation
has been the way of international realists furthered their own political ends.
None of those international actors are dared to reveal the true nature of their
own historical discrimination of their own minority, most of the times native,
populations. Dis-proportionally dying African Americans in America related to
Covid-19 is itself an enough examples. However, the glocalisation has come to a point
that everyone can now see this largely hypocritical nature of liberal
nations and the work load delivered by their appendages like UN and her organs to their own ends.
Our legislators, and in general all developing nations, as a consequence, needed to be
smarter to outcome these traditional agendas in coming protectionist international economics.
When our Muslim political actors are proactive in domestic politics, their Arabic investments seems to come with palm-trees-lined-up
roads, Sharia law schools and street names in Arabic. When Tamil politicians are
proactive in domestic politics, their investments seems to further the
historical South Indian narratives of the Island and they are most likely to have entangled with bygone separatist LTTE’s diaspora. When the western liberal nations
invest in the Island, so far, the Lutheran Christian interests, individual human rights, is pushed forward, disrupting sustainable growth of the nation.
Are we in any position to let these extremists
to dwarf the true nature of our Mother land? Our nation is an unmistakably
majority Sinhala Buddhist nation. From the legends of Ravana to modern day
history, through out all political upheavals, Mother Sri Lanka has trumped as a
Buddhist nation. Our duty is to preserve these true historical traits for millenniums to come.
Today’s investment-seeking legislators needed
to reassure the preservation of interests of largest Buddhist majority in the Island. No foreign investment is sustainable if it violates the foundation
of our history, culture and character. This is regardless whether the
investments are coming from Middle East, Europe, India or China.
To this end and further envisioning the long term identity of our nation, a niche number of population, in which this small landmass can comfortably accommodate in, and its largest share for the native Buddhist population, needed to be secured by the constitution. That will preserve the true minority rights also within this Island.
